Hi, thanks for stopping by today! I am going to share with you some fun ways to get kids excited about researching and writing about famous Black Americans.
One of my favorite free sites for teachers is Epic. You get a free account if you are a teacher. It has thousands of books on it. Check it out! You will love it. You can start by having your children read a book on Epic of a famous Black American. My children love to read about Harriet Tubman. There are several great books if you type her name in the search. Of course you can also go to the library and get books. I then have my students write fast facts on this graphic organizer.
Next, they can take those facts and write about her. They may choose instead a different type of graphic organizer. Kids love this interactive flap book to write about Harriett Tubman.
I have made a bundle if your children would like to choose their favorite famous Black American.
If you would like to pick just one, here are a few of my favorites!
Another fun Black History Activity is to go on a QR Code Black History Scavenger Hunt! You simply place 12 different famous Black American around the room. Each card has a question. The students will scan the QR code to find the answer to the question about the Famous Black American.
Here is an example:
An answer sheet comes with the resource.
