These thanksgiving writing prompts will keep your kindergarten, first and second grade students engaged in writing. We always want to help our reluctant writers get motivated! I teach English Language Learners and found word banks to be so helpful with learning vocabulary.

Word Bank

Place this word bank in a center or duplicate for each student to place in individual writing folder. Also includes:

  • Draw and write a word
  • Draw and write a sentence
  • Make a List
  • Write a letter

Writing Prompts

Eight engaging writing prompts are included with word banks.

A Fun Flip It Printable

Students will cut and paste the picture to the correct vocabulary word. They then trace the word, then flip and read!

Read a Story! Write a Story!

Students can read an A to Z Thanksgiving Book! The book has the same vocabulary as the Word Bank!

I hope that you will find these activities fun and interactive for your students. Labeling activities are also very helpful to young learners. I have listed another fun fall resource below!

Happy Thanksgiving!
